Who Needs Anemones? Divers for life in Carlingford Lough

“Who Needs Anemones?” follows the journey of Seasearch volunteers – from their first steps in training at Carlingford Lough Yacht Club in July 2024, to becoming qualified citizen scientists documenting the rich marine life of our waters. The film catches up with the group one year later on a shore dive in Greencastle, showing how passion for the sea can turn into long-term conservation action.

This film was made by Lia Philcox, a filmmaker and researcher with a background in social anthropology (M.Res., Goldsmiths, University of London) and factual film production (IADT National Film School, Dublin). Lia’s work blends documentary storytelling with an anthropological lens
